I have never accessed counselling services before. How do I set up an appointment?
Taking the first step towards counselling can be a daunting but courageous one. At Associates Counselling, we try to make that process as comfortable as possible. We do not require a referral from a doctor or outside source. Call the office to speak with our administrative team and an intake will be completed over the phone. Our team will help to direct you to who would be the most appropriate and helpful for your particular needs, and can answer any questions that may arise.
Is there a cost associated with your services?
We are a fee-for-service agency. Costs for counselling services vary for the types of counselling, and the credentialing of the counsellor involved. Costs for counselling are usually not covered by basic Alberta Health/Blue Cross.
At the moment, the only insurance we are able to direct bill to is extended Blue Cross. We do not direct bill for insurance coverage to Great West Life, Manulife, GreenShields, Chamber of Commerce, etc. For this coverage, the client sends the paid receipt to their insurance company and is reimbursed directly. Clients are encouraged to check with their insurance providers regarding specifics surrounding coverage, prior to booking any appointments. Usually, insurance coverage is very particular in regards to the credentialing of the counsellor.
Some of our counsellors are contracted with various Employee Assistance Programs (EAP’s). Please contact your HR department to check for your coverage eligibility.
What are the hours of availability?
Associates Counselling Services is an umbrella agency with twelve counsellors. Each of these counsellors is their own separate business and therefore, each has different hours of availability. Many of the counsellors offer evening appointments, but as these spots are in demand, sometimes there can be a wait if a later appointment is required. Please contact our office for more specific schedules.
Our main office/front desk is open from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, and 8 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
Where are you located?
We are conveniently located one block north of Centre Village Mall and two blocks west of 13th St. Our street address is 239 – 12 B St. N.
Parking can be at a premium during the daytime hours, so clients are encouraged to come a few minutes early to maximize the possibility of parking close-by. Our offices are wheel-chair accessible.
Does your office provide childcare services?
Associates Counselling does not provide childcare for clients. Please make alternative childcare arrangements for your sessions or ensure that children onsite are accompanied by an adult who can remain with them in the waiting area.
